Fierce winter does not affect the global warming

Although there has been so much of permanent frost and incrediblely freezing temperature, the winter 2009/10 is not a rekord of frosty winters in German hisory. There hadn’t been those cold temperatures like these since the middle of 90′ies yet it was not drasticly hard, Gerhard Müller-Westermeier, a man working for the German meteorological service, claims. Furthermore he says, a “climatic trend” dindn’t exist because there was a decrease of -1.5 degrees from 1961 to 1990.

The shortstory “An Occurrence At Owl Creek Bridge” by Ambrose Bierce is about a man called Peyton Farquhar who lives in Alabama during the American civil war. At the very beginning Farquhar ,who supports the the Confederacy, finds himself standing at the top of the owl creek bridge and about to be hanged by soldiers from the north. During the militiry ceromy of executing, he focuses on his wife and his child waiting for him thirty mails away. He also realizes a piece of wood on the water and he imagines he might escape if he reached it. The planter reflects how he has got involved in this situation. This was when a soldier in a gray uniform told him about the “yanks” have moved until the bridge and that it’s strictly forbidden by hanging to get close to the bridge.
In the next part of the text Peyton Farquharis the adjudgement shall be enforced but by a lucky quincidence the rope incirlcling his neck bursts. This is not luck at all because he is still in danger and almost drowns. Only his supernatural hands that seem to be alive rescue him by getting rid of the bonds and reaching land. The protagonist sees things differently after getting to land for example he sees spiders stretching their webs. He succeeds to run to the forest and keeps on hiking until the night closes in. He feels a cruel pain. This is when you realize that he hasn’t even escaped, that he has dreamed. Before his death he sees his wife but it’s not clear whether this is fiction or not. The story ends with the words” Peyton Farquhar was dead;his body with a broken neck, swung gently from side to side beneath the timbers of the Owl Creek Bridge.
